Marcus is a very silent kid, I kind of look at him as a boy who's more in the background then in the front. He is quiet and shy, and doesn't really take up much space to put it that way. He also seems like a bit loner and an outsider. He doesn't really fit in anywhere and does not have a lot of friends. I believe this is partly his mother fault because she is the way she is. She is a moody, strange women. She spends her time crying over her ex boyfriend and that has made Marcus a bit insecure. Their relationship is kind of shallow, there are not any deep conversations and sharings between them. Marcus is affected by his mother's strange behavior and that has made him to who he is, an outsider.
I think that Marcus' characteristics are a bit strange. He is kind of outside from the rest of the twelve-year olds. He listens to music like Joni Mitchell and Mozart, and he take care of his mom who is very depressed because she just broke up with her boyfriend. I think his relationship with his mother affects his personal life, and how he acts around other kids on his age. He does not have any friends, and people think he is a freak. I think Marcus is very mature for his age, but that he actually just wants to be like the cool kids.
I think Marcus has a wery difficult relationship with his mother(Fiona), because she's suicidal depressed all the time. I believe this effects the way Marcus act around other kids on his age. I also believe his mother is the reason for his "wierdness" and his unsteadiness. The way Nick Hornby discribes Fiona, gives us a good impression of her characteristics and how she is a lonely, wierd and strange women. She allways wear special clothes, and refuses Marcus to dress like the other kids. I think she loves Marcus wery much, but she doesn't understand that he is a twelve-year-old, with own needs and wishes. I also think Marcus loves his mother, apart from her depression, problems and wierdness. On his first day of school, his mother walks him to the schoolyard. Out of nowhere, he shouts "I love you, Marcus" and all the other kids hear this, and makes a big laught about it. But as the brave kid Marcus is, she says "I love you too Mom". I think this proves the love he has for his mother. ¨
Marcus is a verry down to earth boy, and he seems extremly grown upp for his age. he loves his mother, but he struggle because his mother have a big problem with depresjon. he try as well as he can to help her and him self, but he need someone who can take care of him, so he gets room to be a child. Marcus gets bulied at school ang have his own problem, and when he gets his mums problems as well, thats away to much for a litle guy as him.
Marcus seems like a silent and a bit strange boy. Marcus is twelve years old and he likes to listen to music like Joni Mitchell and Mozart. Marcus and his mum just moved in to an apartment in London. In the start of the book, Marcus use most of his time to take care of his mum because she is very depressed after she broke up with her boyfriend. I don’t think they got a very good relationship. Maybe it is a bit tensed situation between them. Marcus doesn’t have any friends and I think it has a bad affect on his life. Like Mia I think Marcus is very mature for his age, but I don’t think Marcus is really happy with that.
Marcus, a twelve-year-old who recently moved from Cambridge to London, do have some problems with finding his own place in the new society he just moved to. Other kids in his age does not like him. Marcus has some characteristics which seperates him from the rest. He does not wear the "right" clothes, he listens to Mozart and such, his mother suffers from mental-suicidal problems etc. All these issues makes it harder for poor Marcus to get along with the other kids. Marcus's mother, Fiona, is kinda like Marcus in many ways. She is just as outsider as her outcome, only a bit more suicidal. Because of that, Marcus only wants to take care of his mother. Both om them love eachother, but they both makes it hard for the other to get along.
